The Moses Scale House

Moses Scale House

The Moses scale house was built as a Fairbanks building in the early 20th century.  The Frists completed a full restoration of the building in 2024.  While the original scales were removed from the site prior to the Frists’ ownership, replacement scales were sourced from nearby Meadow Creek from another historic scale house.

Scales houses were historically important to local communities.  Local farmers brought their cattle to the scale house to be weighed and priced for market.  Scales were required to be calibrated yearly to ensure it gave correct livestock weights.

Chestnut Barn

Chestnut Barn

In 2016, this old barn built in the mid-1800s was dilapidated and going to be torn down. Constructed of nearly extinct chestnut, we knew it was important to save the wood.  After carefully deconstructing the barn, the antique wood was used for cabinetry in our sister farm, Old Town.
